WILL Atkinson is back in training at Southend United.
The 32-year-old, who is back with Blues on trial, has recovered from the calf injury he suffered against West Ham United in a pre-season friendly last month.
And the midfielder is still impressing Shrimpers boss Phil Brown.
“Will is back in full time training now and if truth be known if he had have been fit there is every chance he would’ve been playing on Saturday,” said Brown.
“He broke down with a calf injury about three weeks ago now and he’s been in pretty much every day for treatment to put his case across.
"We will certainly be talking to him."
Atkinson was previously was Blues between 2013 and 2017, making 173 appearances during Brown’s first spell in charge at Roots Hall.
