SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown has no problems with Shrimpers striker Rhys Murphy showing his frustrations.

Murphy was substituted during Monday’s 0-0 draw at Wealdstone.

And Brown joked he was still not in the forward’s good books.

“He doesn’t like me at the moment but he’s fine,” said Brown.

“He came off the field of play and I like the fact he wasn’t happy being subbed.

“He wasn’t his normal self and he had a minimal contribution to the game against Wealdstone when I’m expecting him to grab hold of a game in the final third.”

But Brown felt Murphy became frustrated by the level of service coming his way.

“I think he gets a bit down when people don’t pass the ball to him in the right area or at the right time,” said the Blues boss.

“It was epitomised in the first five minutes when Matt Dennis got in down the left hand side.

“There was a pull back on to Rhys but the ball didn’t arrive and I think he gets down about it.

“But he needs to keep making those runs and hopefully the players can provide the right kind of service.”
