SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown will be back at Halifax Town on Saturday for the first time since failing in a swoop to sign Jamie Vardy.
Brown – who was in charge of Preston North End at the time- watched the current Leicester City star during his spell at the Shay.
But he was unable to complete a deal for the forward.
“The last time I was sitting in the Shay I was Preston North End manager,” recalled Brown “I was with Brian Horton and we were scouting a certain Jamie Vardy.
“We put a bid in for him but we were done by Fleetwood and the rest is history.”
