SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown is aiming for a better run of results after surprising his squad with an unexpected 10km race this morning.

The Blues boss remains unhappy with Tuesday night’s dire 3-2 defeat against Aldershot Town at Roots Hall.

And Brown’s frustrations led to the Shrimpers’ players having to jog round the streets of Southend.

“We all met at the training ground like normal, “explained Brown, who joined in with the run.

“They probably thought they were going to sit in a nice warm bath or maybe watch a video of a performance that wasn’t good enough.

"But I unfortunately gave them a bit of surprise.”

The Shrimpers, who are 16th in the National League, head to Torquay United this weekend having not won since beating King's Lynn on the opening day of the season.
