EAST Thurrock United claimed their place in the FA Cup Third Qualifying Round as they beat Needham Market 3-2 in their replay match, reports Leon Imber.

The two sides drew 2-2 in the original tie on Saturday at Rookery Hill, but the Rocks managed to find a winning goal in Suffolk to send them to the next stage of the competition.

Paul Martin' side took the lead 37 minutes in, Johnny Ashman on target for the visitors and their lead was doubled six minutes later as Ben Wyss compounded the hosts to a two goal deficit.

However, Noah Collard and Ben Fowkes were on hand to level the game up for Needham Market, they scored in the 55th and 66th minute respectively.

The game looked to be heading to a repeat 2-2 conclusion, however, when the Rocks were awarded a 83rd minute penalty, Alex Hernandez netted to give his side a late lead, sending them on their way to the Third Qualifying Round.

East Thurrock will travel to Boston United in the next stage of the competition.

Concord Rangers, on the other hand, came crashing out of the FA Cup via a 2-0 away defeat against St Albans City.

Dave Diedhiou put the hosts a goal ahead just 11 minutes into the match, as he connected with a dangerous corner, the home side applied plenty of pressure in the remainder of the first half, but didn’t manage to extend their lead.

The Beach Boys certainly enjoyed more of the second half, but failed to make their dominance count with a goal, which was ultimately punished in the 92nd minute as St Albans doubled their lead to kill the match.

Attentions of Chris Search’s side will now be on the National League South, to which they have made an impressive start.
