SOUTHEND United are keen on signing Sunderland striker Benjamin Kimpioka on loan, Echosport understands.
The 21-year-old forward, who represented Sweden at youth level, can play anywhere across the front-line.
And he is expected to train with the Shrimpers later this week.
Kimpioka has netted twice for the Black Cats in the Football League Trophy and also scored in their 1-1 draw against Coventry City in League One back in 2019.
Last season, he spent time on loan in the National League with Torquay United as Gary Johnson's side reached the play-offs.
Kimpioka made 10 appearances while with the Gulls but failed to hit the back of the net.
He attracted interest from Hartlepool United earlier this season.
