NATHAN Ferguson has rejected the opportunity to join Aldershot Town, Echosport understands.

The 25-year-old has failed to make the squad for Blues’ last two matches.

But Shrimpers boss Phil Brown confirmed Ferguson had opted to fight for his place.

“There was interest in Nathan from a National League team but he wants to fight for his place here,” said Brown.

“We’ve seen a reaction from him in training.”

Aldershot are now managed by former Southend manager Mark Molesley who signed Ferguson for Blues back in January.
