SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown is keen to add to his squad ahead of Tuesday night's clash with Eastleigh.
The struggling Shrimpers head into the game on the back of four successive defeats.
And, in a bid to get back to winning ways, Brown is keen to bring in a defender and winger Ricky Holmes.
"We’ve made enquiries to about five or six different clubs regarding bringing a centre-half in but that’s nothing different, I’ve been saying that for long enough now," said Brown.
"I’m also interested in bringing Ricky Holmes in but whether or not I can get that one over the line before Tuesday night is another question."
Holmes, who made 14 appearances for the Shrimpers last season, joined Farnborough Town in the summer after failing to agree a new deal with his hometown club.
