SOUTHEND Saxons made it three wins in a row after seeing off Chingford 30-0 at Warners Bridge.

The victory in testing wet conditions saw Saxons move up to fifth in the London One North standings and delighted director of rugby Josh Ward.

“We were slow to get going but we played all the rugby throughout the game,” said Ward.

“We nullified what they threw at us and importantly got the four tries.

“That’s what we set out to do and to achieve it is very pleasing.”

But Saxons also had to overcome tough conditions to triumphs.

“Games like that like are always going to be a game of two halves that require two different approaches,” said Ward.

“We were clear on how we needed to play that second half and we did at times.

“There are aspects we have tidy up, including decision making and discipline.

“But we got four tries, the bonus point and a third win on the bounce so we have to be pleased.”

Tom Day, Tom Ramsey, Greg Warner and Blue Newton all scored tries in Southend’s victory.
