SOUTHEND United are keen to speak to Chesterfield boss James Rowe about the vacant managerial role at Roots Hall.
Rowe led the Spireites to a 4-0 win against the Shrimpers on Saturday.
And Blues are believed to have emailed Chesterfield in a bid to speak with the former Canvey Island striker.
The Shrimpers are currently assembling a shortlist as they bid to replace Phil Brown who was dismissed at the weekend.
Former Barnet boss Darren Currie is believed to be keen on the role.
However, former Blues striker Neil Harris is not in contention.
Harris has been approached by the Shrimpers but the ex Millwall boss feels the job is not for him at this stage.
