SOUTHEND United’s approach for Chesterfield manager James Rowe has been rejected by the National League club.
The Shrimpers had been keen to hold talks with Rowe, whose Spireites side won 4-0 at Roots Hall on Saturday.
But Blues have been denied permission to hold discussions with the former Canvey Island striker.
Chesterfield chief executive John Croot said: “James is fully committed to the job he took on here just short of a year ago.
“Both parties set out a clear plan when James was appointed and that has not changed.
“We enjoy a good working relationship and James shares our vision for the future of the club.”
Rowe has been in charge of Chesterfield since November 2020.
