SOUTHEND United fans have their say on Saturday's 4-1 win against Chertsey Town in the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup.

Thoroughly enjoyable, everyone played a part today. Special praise for Dunne playing an unfamiliar role, Ralph, Ferguson, Egbri and my MOTM, Jack Bridge. Well done Demi and the boys. A United team.

@Kaylalula

Much better team selection than under Brown. Team now seems re-energised and wanting to play. And well done JD and Stan!

@NicaraguaVisit

Had visions of a defeat when we went 1-0 down. It was nice not to see their heads drop for a change.

@southendandy

Great to see a win today. Tireless running from Egbri, my man of match. Pleased for the team, fans go home happy. Respect to Chertsey played well @SJC21660849

Impressed with Howard but Atkinson is finished as a player. Legs completely gone.

@ChairmanHack

Nice to see some positive comments and a few goals in the right end. Egbri work rate phenomenal. Great to see Harry Phillips back in the line up and Murphy return to scoring ways. Hopefully Dalby can get on the scoresheet at Daggers away @dan_mays86

Wasn’t at the game due to Covid. Really pleased for the team JD, Stan and Coulson. However one swallow doesn’t make a summer. Take this feeling and bring it every week and with the fans backing there will be many more swallows!!

@stevejohnson149

Avoided potential banana skin after a poor start,Ralph and Ferguson were great. Kept their heads and did what was needed. Great to see the passion from Stan Collymore in the stands too.

@thedove01

Great to see Stan on the touchline giving advice. Didn't beat much but with seven or more players injured I will take it.Ralph and Bridge outstanding. Bring on Bowers & Pitsea!

@YeattsMatthew

Given our situation,with the club in turmoil,six new injuries,no recognised CB, this was a shock result in the making. To go 1-0 down I feared the worst.But to their credit the team responded well and deserved the win.Collymore’s presence helped too as he’s never seen us lose at home.

@tommyharris57

Great to get a win. Felt a good team spirit on and off the pitch. JD has the players organised and knowing their jobs. Players didn’t stop running and giving their all to the team. Definitely something to build on and push on for a good run of results. Looking forward to Dag&Red.

@CleverleyDaley

Great result in light of previous results, and all credit to JD.However severely lacking in defence and needs to be addressed ASAP. Use Ralph and Howard as full-backs - they need centre backs in the middle!

@Simon_Dodd

When we went 1-0 I'd be kidding if I said I didn't think oh here we go again! But the lads showed great pride and belief to come back with their first attack and from then on never looked back. Ferguson, Walsh etc showing Brown why he was wrong to ignore them in squad selections.

@ShrimpersTalk

Kept our composure after falling behind early on. Ralph was the best player on the pitch, and rounded off a great display with a goal. Nice for Murphy to tuck another one away.

Positive result and atmosphere for the new manager to come into. (If he’s appointed this week)

@ScottyBarber12

It sets us up! We needed this big time and so big thanks to JD! I like you have suffered being a SUFC supporter but I think the worm has turned. The result was important to give the new incumbent an opportunity. It may take a while but we are going in the right direction!

@JasonRodwell3

The perfect win for our current scenario. Plenty of confidence to be drawn (primarily) but also with negatives to be looked at by the new manager. Ralph showed us the player we could have done with the last couple of years. Outstanding.

@piershewitt

Was worried when we went 1-0 down but from what I’ve read, the players seem happier. Great to see some fight and spirit in the team. Well done to JD and all. Also, I think Stan has had a good bit to do with this!!

@glentiesbhoy

Everyone going a lil overboard, tough game next in the national league.

@reeceytt

Like everyone else I had the sinking feeling after five minutes of here we go again but the lads showed fight and abit of pride in performance which was good to see. Egbri and Bridge were outstanding and was good to see Walsh on the score sheet. Ralph man of the match.

@KetchleyShane

It was nice to see a comfortable win but I thought it was a very average (at best) performance against much weaker opposition. Lots of good play through the wingers but beyond them I thought we lacked creativity and players seemed scared to shoot. A wins a win though.

@Nickhardysufc

Given the situation- coming off a chaotic week, low on confidence, limited squad and against a team who, despite being lower, would have been high on confidence as unbeaten all season, a thoroughly professional performance to recover from an early blow. Egbri and Bridge excellent.
