SOUTHEND United have made their move for a new manager, Echosport understands.
A four man panel - consisting of chairman Ron Martin, chief executive Tom Lawrence, director Gary Lockett and former striker Stan Collymore - have now identified who they want to replace Phil Brown at Roots Hall.
And an approach has now been made to speak to their number one target who is currently employed by a club in the Football League and will therefore need permission to speak with Blues.
The Shrimpers had Jason Demetriou as interim head coach for Saturday's FA Cup win against Chertsey Town and they hope to have the new man in charge in time for this weekend's trip to Dagenhan & Redbridge.
