WESTCLIFF skipper Greg Bannister feels his side will be facing another ‘top side’ when they travel to Clifton this weekend.
Bottom of the table Westcliff have been beaten in their opening seven games of the National Two South season.
And Bannister is expecting another big test at fifth placed Clifton tomorrow.
“Clifton are another top side,” said Bannister.
“They probably haven’t played as well as they have wanted the last couple of weeks but we’ll go down there to play some rugby and hopefully we can get something from the game.”
Westcliff were beaten 57-7 by Redruth last time out in another difficult afternoon for Bannister and his team-mates.
But the Westcliff captain did feel there were signs of promise.
“It was tough,” said Bannister.
“Redruth are a top team and I expect them to be in the top three come the end of the season.
“But we showed in patches we could go head to head with them.
“We started off well then up to half time they took a grip of the game.
“In the second half we looked much better and gave them a few problems.
“If a few passes went to hand and some things went our way we could have scored four tries.”
