ECHOSPORT talks to Dagenham & Redbridge fan Mark Smith ahead of Saturday’s match with Southend United.

Dagenham are currently sixth in the table. What have you made of the season so far?

“I think the season gone slightly better than I thought it would have done in the summer as Stockport, Chesterfield and Wrexham seemed to be spending money.

“But I believe keeping most of last season’s team has helped us a lot this season.”

Dagenham have lost their last three league games. It that something of a concern or just a blip as far as you’re concerned?

“I've not been too concerned with the last few league defeats.

“As we showed last Saturday in the cup the team spirit seems to be very good this season.

“The players are fighting to win each match and I'm confident of a good season.

“We should be around the play-off spots unless we lose players to bigger teams or they get long term injuries.”

Ex Southend winger Myles Weston is now with Dagenham. How has he been playing?

“I’ve never really been a fan of Myles Weston from when I've seen him play for Southend or Ebbsfleet.

“But he’s the type of player who has got a lot of experience and he can pass that on to the younger players in the squad.

“When I've seen him play this season he’s played quite well.”

Who would you say is the Dagenham dangerman?

“I would say Mo Sagaf, I've been very impressed with him.”

What’s the team news?

“I believe Paul McCallum is suspended after his red card last Saturday. Harry Phipps is out injured but other then that I believe it nearly a full strength squad to pick from.”
