STAN Collymore insists Southend United’s new coaching team will be ‘get all the time in the world’ to turn around the fortunes of the Shrimpers.

Collymore was instrumental in the appointment of new head coach Kevin Maher.

And Collymore, who watched the 3-0 defeat at Dagenham & Redbridge, knows there is no quick fix for the Shrimpers.

“The three coaches are going to get all the time in the world, all the time,” said Collymore.

“The three coaching staff are untouchable as we've identified that their abilities are exactly what we need.

“Three seasons of the poor recruitment aren't going to be unravelled overnight, but I guarantee it will be now.

“We'll be ruthless, swift and uncompromising on finding the best that we can and integrating them with the best we have.”

And Collymore also spoke to Maher after Saturday’s defeat at Dagenham which saw the Shrimpers slip into the relegation zone.

“Spoke to Kev post-match and it's our job to support the three of the coaches because they have come into a grossly neglected sporting environment and the stench of failure and mismanagement in the football department is strong,” said Collymore.

“This will change, I guarantee it.”

And Collymore will also continue talks surrounding his own future with the Shrimpers.

“Tom (Lawrence) and I are talking again early next week with the aim of finding a positive resolution,” said Collymore.

“But make no mistake ladies and gentlemen, positive change is coming.”

Speaking on a Zoom call with supporters on Thursday night Collymore said he was close to being appointed the club’s head of footballing operations but then posted on Friday that he and the club were ‘a distant apart.’
