SOUTHEND United head coach Kevin Maher stayed tight-lipped when quizzed about Aaron Jackson’s refereeing performance against Boreham Wood.
Jackson sent off both Ogogo and Maher himself during a frustrating 1-0 defeat for the Shrimpers.
But, despite hinting at his disappointment, Maher did not give too much away at the final whistle.
“The fact you’re asking me that question about the referee says something,” said Maher.
“Abs’ red card was harsh to say the least and I think he was too quick to get the card out.
“I’ve spoken to Abs and he’s told me what happened but we’ll deal with that after.”
And Maher was also disappointed by his own dismissal.
“I was frustrated but with a performance like that you’re going to get frustration but I really don’t know why he needs to get involved,” said Maher.
“Overall it’s disappointing not to come away with something but I can’t fault the players at all.
“We had a good week with them and everything we wanted from them they gave us.
“We would probably like a bit more attacking play but that will come.
“We’ve got to give ourselves a base to play from.
“We know we’ve got enough in the dressing room to compete but it’s disappointing to not come away with what I felt we deserved.”
