SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher insists he is not panicking over the Shrimpers’ league position.

Aldershot’s 1-0 win against Torquay United on Tuesday night saw Blues drop into the National League relegation zone.

And Maher admits it is not nice to see.

“There’s no panic but it’s not nice and it’s not anywhere we want to be,” said Maher.

“You trust how we work and how we go about things but with not playing it’s out of your hands.”

The Shrimpers had been due to take on Maidenhead United at Roots Hall on Tuesday, only for the match to be postponed following a positive Covid test in the Magpies squad.

And Maher was frustrated the game did not go ahead.

“We were disappointed because we wanted to play in front of our fans,” said Maher.

“It was a home game we were hopeful of picking up points from but it is what it is and we will have to play it a couple of weeks down the line now.

“That’s no problem and we will be ready for that.”
