JOSH Wright is excited to be starting the next chapter of his career with Billericay Town.

The former Southend United midfielder has agreed a switch to the National League South strugglers.

But Wright has now revealed he will be player coach at New Lodge.

Writing on Instagram, the 32-year-old said: “Absolutely thrilled and delighted in truth to take the next step and chapter in my career as well as life.

“First and foremost I have signed for Billericay Town FC to play football and be part of a well-run football club that want to do things right and go one way and that is up.

“I never realised how much I would miss walking out on a Saturday with that competitive streak that runs through me.

“On top of all that it is giving me the opportunity to start dipping into what I have always envisioned myself doing in the future and that’s coaching and seeing the other side.

“So right now at the age I am at the player coach role along with my fitness business on the side that takes a lot of effort and time week to week “I felt it was the right thing to do all round so I have the time for both.

“With that my wife Hollie and I are expecting our first child early next year so staying close to home was vital in my thinking.”

Wright made 26 appearances for the Shrimpers during the 2017/18 campaign and was back training with Blues earlier on this season.

And the midfielder is proud of the career he’s had in the professional game.

“I’ve had one hell of career being involved from the very top all the way down to playing in League Two and yes some will wonder why I’ve chosen to make the change but for the reasons above and a few more I just felt the time was right,” said Wright.

“I am so proud of the 15 years I have had with all the ups and downs making it the best rollercoaster I will ever go on and I wouldn’t have changed it for the world.

What I will say is this isn’t the end it’s just the start of a new beginning and as I said above I am joining a great football club with incredible owners and a top manager in Jody Brown who I am looking forward to working with and learning from.”
