CONCORD Rangers’ magnificent FA Trophy run of 2020 will not be replicated this season.

The Beach Boys crashed out in their first involvement this season after suffering a 5-0 thumping at home to Southern League Division One South side AFC Totton.

The side two divisions below Chris Search’s men controlled proceedings in the second round tie and were 3-0 up by the 22nd minute.

And five minutes after the half time interval, the visitors grabbed their fifth.

A disappointing afternoon for Concord, but their league campaign will certainly be a priority as they sit just two points below the top seven in the National League South.

Billericay Town were also eliminated from the FA Trophy, as they took Maidstone United all the way to a penalties with a 1-1 draw before the Stones prevailed 6-5 in the shoot-out.

Norman Wabo was on target for Jody Brown’s side but his effort was cancelled out two minutes before time.

Shaq Coulthirst and Michael Chambers’ missed penalties saw Hakan Hayrettin’s side progress, while Town have to revert to concentrating on their escape from danger in the league.

Similarly, Canvey Island’s FA Trophy run came to a halt, their tough tie against Tonbridge Angels ended 1-0 in favour of the National League South side.

The Gulls battled hard, but a deflected effort from Joe Turner in the 56th minute proved decisive, seeing Angels into the third round hat.

In other non-league action, East Thurrock United held Merstham to a 2-2 draw in Surrey.

Callum Robinson and reliable Alex Hernandez found the back of the net for the visitors as they made it three games unbeaten.

Elsewhere, in the Isthmian North, Basildon United cruised to a 3-0 victory at home against Romford, Jonny Fowell’s first victory in charge of the Bees.

Alexander Balisani bagged a brace either side of a Ruben Carvalho strike to take their side up to 14th in the standings.

In other eighth tier action, Hashtag United fell to a 1-0 home defeat against Grays Athletic, while Hullbridge Sports drew 1-1 with AFC Sudbury.
