SOUTHEND United head coach Kevin Maher insists conversations are ongoing surrounding Zak Brunt and Kacper Lopata’s future at the club.
The duo are now in the final month of their loan spell with the Shrimpers.
And Maher confirmed discussions are continuing in a bid to keep the Sheffield United youngsters at Roots Hall.
“It’s ongoing,” said Maher.
“They’ve been brilliant.
“The lads have all taken them under their wing and they’re really enjoying it here.
“For them it’s important to play football and this a good environment for them to do that.
“For both sides I think it would be positive if we could (keep them)."
Brunt and Lopata have both made six appearances since joining Blues in October.
