ROCHFORD Hundred suffered a 'tough' afternoon at Clifton, losing 52-5.

The defeat was Rochford's seventh in succession.

And head coach Danny Cleare was honest in his assessment of the game.

"Saturday was a tough day," said Cleare.

"We had a number of changes to the team from the week before and that does affect the consistency in play.

"But fundamentally we just got beaten by a far better team on the day.

"Clifton were quick, powerful, skilful and very well organised and they just cut us to shreds at time.

"It was certainly our worst performance of the season but it won’t be one that defines our season and we’ll move on from it and look to improve on where we went wrong."

Rochford remain third from bottom in National Two South.

And Hundred will now be looking to bounce back against local rivals Westcliff at Magnolia Road this weekend.

"We're really looking forward to the Westcliff game on Saturday," said Cleare.

"It’s a big derby game and there is going to be a huge crowd watching as well so there are plenty of things to be excited about.

"When I first started playing senior rugby at Rochford 17 years ago Westcliff were just climbing the leagues back then.

"So certainly for the last 15 years they have had the bragging rights so it would be nice for our supporters to see us come out on top and enjoy the moment."
