SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher insists the Shrimpers are doing all they can to stay safe but expects the coronavirus pandemic to affect their season at some point.

A number of matches were postponed all across the country at the weekend due to a number of positive tests.

But Blues continue to follow all of the protocols in a bid to avoid having their own matches called off.

“We’re doing everything we have to do around the training ground with masks and wipes,” said Maher.

“It’s affecting everyone and it will probably affect us at some stage but we’re trying to stay as safe as we can.

“We’re following all of the protocols and that’s all we can do.”

Blues' home match with Maidenhead United was put back two weeks due to positive Covid cases in the visitors' squad.
