ECHOSPORT talks to Bromley fan Colin Head in the build up to Sunday's game with Southend United.

What have you made of the season so far?

"It’s been a very good start to the season. We’ve picked up some great points away from home at the big clubs like Notts Co, Chesterfield and Stockport, winning enough games to maintain our place in the top seven.

What were the hopes for Bromley this season?

"The hopes were to finish in the play offs again this season.

"The owner has said his goal for the club is eventually League football, but the top seven is the goal this campaign."

What do you feel can still be achieved?

"I think we are on course to make the play offs if we can keep a fit squad and maybe bring in one or two loan players from League clubs when required it’s definitely possible.

Who is the dangerman?

"Michael Cheek is a proven goal scorer at this level and has been the club's top scorer for the two previous seasons and is set to do the same again as he is already in double figures.

This will be the first time Southend will have played Bromley. What can you tell us about the club and your recent history?

"Bromley were formed in 1892 and have been playing at the current Hayes Lane ground since 1938, although it’s been redeveloped on two sides more recently.

"Bromley were a big name in the days of amateur football winning the first FA Amateur Cup held at Wembley Stadium in 1949, beating Romford 1-0 in front of 94,000.

"There were some pretty lean years since and by 2001 we were playing in Ryman League Div One and struggling, being watched by just over 100 supporters.

"From 2005 there has been a steady rise up the pyramid and we now find ourselves in our sixth National League season regularly playing in front of 2,000 fans at home.

"We also took over 20,000 to the FA Trophy Final at Wembley in 2018."

What’s the team news?

"Covid is the factor no one can predict. We put a team with several under 23s out for the Trophy game last week.

"The club keeps any injury news very close to its chest, but if fit it could be something like: Cousins, Bush, Sowunmi, Webster, Coulson, Sablier, Bingham, Arthurs, Forster, Alexander, Cheek. Subs: Alabi, Trotter, Partington, Dennis, Whitely."
