SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher will look to select a starting line-up that is ‘ready to go’ against Barnet at Roots Hall tomorrow.

The Shrimpers are in action for the second time in three days while the Bees have not played since December 18.

And Maher will take everything into consideration as Blues look to build on Sunday's 1-1 draw at high-flying Bromley.

“Less than 48 hours between games makes it very difficult, especially when you have injuries and stuff like that,” said Maher.

“But we will look at everything and we judge each game on its merit.

“A lot of effort went into the Bromley game and there were a lot of positives but we have to be mindful of the fact Barnet haven’t played in 10 days so they will be fresh.

“We will have to put a team out that is ready to go again.”

However, the Shrimpers are likely to be without a number of players.

Abu Ogogo (heart issue), Nathan Ferguson (coronavirus), Simeon Akinola (knee) and Kacper Lopata (knee) are all still sidelined along with James Dunne who injured his ankle against Bromley.

And Maher confirmed John White is also doubtful for the game after he was also forced off during the draw with Bromley following a collision with an advertising hoarding.

“Dunney rolled his ankle so he’s definitely out and John White is doubtful,” said Maher.

“That was a nasty one and we have a few other bumps and bruises and whatnot we need to take a look at before selecting the team.”

Blues head into the game sitting 19th in the National League standings, just one point above the drop zone.

And Maher is expecting a tricky test against a Barnet side who are 16th in the table after winning five of their last seven league games.

“Barnet have got some good players and going forward they’re a big threat,” said Maher.

“Dean (Brennan) has done brilliantly since he’s gone in so it’s a tough one for us, we know that.

“But it’s one we’re looking forward to off the back of a decent performance."
