FORMER Southend United striker Simon Cox has been added to the first team coaching staff at Billericay Town.

Cox, who scored 45 goals in 172 appearances for Blues, will work alongside Town boss Jody Brown.

And Cox is looking forward to the challenge.

The 34-year-old tweeted: “Delighted to be joining Billericay as part of the first team coaching staff.

“I’m grateful to Jody and the owners for believing in me and giving me a chance to forge a career as coach.

“I’ve seen enough quality in the sessions and games to see we are moving in the right direction.”

Billericay – who also have ex Blues midfielder Josh Wright in their coaching team – are currently bottom of the National League South table.
