SOUTHEND United have condemned homophobic chanting from a section of their supporters at Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday.

The Proud Shrimpers supporters group took to social media to express their disappointed at the language being used by travelling fans at Victoria Road.

And Blues have now joined them in expressing their displeasure.

A statement issued on social media said: “We are extremely disappointed to hear about homophobic language used by a minority of supporters.

“We have passed this onto our Dedicated Football Officer who will be investigating this further.

“We strongly condemn discriminatory chanting of any kind. One Club. One Community.”
