SOUTHEND United chairman Ron Martin insists he remains involved with the running of the Shrimpers.
Martin has not been seen at a Southend game since a 1-0 win against Eastleigh at the start of October.
But Martin - who has been subject to a number of protests from the club's frustrated fans - is now allowing chief executive Tom Lawrence to take on more responsibility.
In a short statement issued to the Echo, Martin said: “Tom and I speak several times a day.
“A CEO's position is to carry out the board’s decision and Tom has settled in very well.
“He’s committed, as we all are, to restoring success to the club.”
Martin also confirmed he had been forced to miss matches due to ‘other priorities’ in recent weeks.
