SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher will be paying little attention to the form guide ahead of Friday night’s clash with King’s Lynn.

The second from bottom visitors have triumphed just once in their last 13 National League games.

But Maher is expecting a tough contest against Tommy Widdrington’s team.

"It’s a tough game,” said Maher.

"They’ve had a change of manager and Tommy (Widdrington) is someone I know from our time together at Bristol Rovers.

"They will come fully prepared, they have some good players and will give us a tough game.

"But with their position in the league and ours as well, this is a big one.

"If we’re not up for it we will come unstuck but the players have trained well and there’s a better buzz around the place.

"We’ve got to build on that but we know there’s still a long way to go."

Blues have lost just once in their last six games and are now seven points above the drop zone.

And Maher is looking forward to more Friday night football at Roots Hall.

"Friday nights at Roots Hall are always great occasions and hopefully it will be the same tonight
