SCRUM-HALF Rory Inwood helped Southend Saxons secure back to back wins with a 36-9 victory at Chingford.

The win kept Southend sixth in the London One North standings.

And Inwood is keen to keep the momentum going.

“Saturday was another big win for us because we’ve got the momentum now and we need to keep pushing on for the rest of the season,” said Inwood.

“The determination to keep getting back to back wins is always the goal and what we strive for.

“As a team we have the ambition to keep getting the wins and pushing for them as hard as we can.”

Southend remain in contention for a top four finish this season.

And Inwood is pleased with how things are going.

“The season so far has gone some what according to plan,” said Inwood.

“We’ve had some games where we’ve made it very hard for ourselves and lost games which we probably shouldn’t have done but that’s rugby.

“When we’ve been at our full potential we are a force to be reckoned with and we’ve proved that.”

However, Saxons face a tough test next time out as they host third placed Eton Manor at Warners Bridge.

“We know it’s going to be a very tough match but we back our ability as individuals and as a team,” said Inwood.

“We want to get the job done and come out on top with five points.”

Southend will also be going into the game on a real high after winning at Chingford last time out.

Inwood, Jac Sexton, Jack MacVeigh, Ben Lloyd and Tom Day all scored tries for Saxons in the win.

And Inwood was thrilled to touch down once again.

“Who doesn’t love getting a try and getting your name on the scoreboard, it’s just another one to the tally for this season,” said Inwood.

“All jokes aside though they don’t mean a lot to me if we don’t get the job done on the day and that’s the priority if the opportunity arises then I’m all for taking the chance.”
