ROCHFORD Hundred head coach Danny Cleare was frustrated by his side’s display at Canterbury.

Hundred were beaten 46-17 in Kent.

And Cleare felt his side were well below par.

“It was a poor performance overall and one we don’t normally produce,” said Cleare.

“We were completely outplayed from start to finish.

“We had good moments within the first half but not enough good moments throughout the game.

“We had an opportunity just before half time to turn the screw when we went 17-15 in front and had two extra players at that time due to their sin bins.

“But instead of punishing them we ended up conceding a try ourselves despite the player advantage and having the hill so that was disappointing.

“And in the second half we never really fired a shot.”

Third from bottom Rochford are now 10 points behind Canterbury who sit immediately above them in the National Two South standings.

But Hundred are not battling against relegation as no teams from their division will go down this season.

“The gap is now 10 points and it will be tough to catch them, but we certainly won’t stop trying,” said Cleare.

“Having no relegation hasn’t impacted the league at all and every team and club is motivated to win every game and finish as high up the table as they possibly can.

“Many coaches I speak to after the games say this is the one of the most competitive years in a long while so I think that says it all about the season really.

“Every team’s players are professional in their approach and no one likes losing so I can assure you that our motivation to catch the teams in front of us will remain until the end of the season.”

Harry Hudson and Maciu Nabogi both bagged tries for Rochford on Saturday while the rest of the points came from the boot of Chris Dudman.
