ECHOSPORT talks to Aldershot fan Billy Abbott ahead of Tuesday night's match with Southend United.

Aldershot arfe currently 17th in the table, what have you made of the season so far?

"Having had quite low expectations this season, our current position is about where I’d expect us to be.

"I'm very pleased with the effort and desire the players are showing and so overall I’m content with just being above the relegation zone.

"We’ve had lots of quite entertaining games abd with us tending to be very much a second half team meaning fans have tended to go home happy."

Former Southend manager Mark Molesley is now in charge of Aldershot. How has he done so far?

"Molesley had a bit of a rough start losing seven out of his first eight since taking over but a mixture of a change of formation and new personnel has changed our fortunes.

"He’s implemented a 5-2-3 formation which has massively improved our defensive record.

"This has however sacrificed a bit of our attacking threat I fear and we often set up to defend, even against some of the weaker sides.

"He’s a good tactician and he rarely makes questionable substitutions/changes to the team.

"He’s brought in a lot of new faces and has used his Bournemouth and Weymouth connections well.

"Just generally he has managed to restore some element of positivity around the club again and has talked a lot about how ambitious he wants to be, which is in sharp contrast to our previous manager."

What are your hopes for the rest of the season?

"Avoid a relegation scrap.

"Given how bad our start was, I think that would be more than acceptable.

"Top half I think would be asking too much of a very young and inexperienced group of players.

"Our next five games I think will be crucial to deciding whether we can push on away from the bottom group or we drop back into the battle."

Who would you say is your dangerman?

"Jacob Berkeley-Agyepong.

"A tricky winger who likes to run at anyone, constantly winning dangerous free kicks and often getting shots off.

"He scored a goal off the bench in the reverse fixture at Roots Hall and has been unlucky not to have a few more to his name this season.

"He has really thrived under Molesley, when other managers have failed to get much out of him.

"Expect him to pick the ball up quite deep and drive the team forwards."

What's the team news?

"It is likely Aldershot will be unchanged from the draw away at Chesterfield.

"Possibly a change of striker as our two main forwards have just come back from lengthy spells out so are taking it in turns to build up fitness.

"There are no new injuries I know of so it should be a pretty much full strength 11."
