SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher felt new signing Callum Powell showed what he will bring to the Shrimpers on Saturday.
Powell played the second half in place of Harry Cardwell as Blues bagged a 1-0 win at Dover Athletic.
And Maher was pleased with the 26-year-old’s debut.
“Powelly came on and you can see what he is,” said Maher.
“He will drive defenders mad and he’s quite elusive when he gets on the ball.
“He’s a bit of a maverick but I’m pleased with him.”
Powell joined Blues from National League North Kettering on Friday.
