LOUIS Walsh insists he is excited to have joined Barnet.

The winger has left Southend United to team up with the Bees.

And the 21-year-old is keen to start playing regular first team football.

“I’m here to play football and to win games for the club,” Walsh told Barnet’s YouTube channel.

“Everyone knows the club isn’t in the position it wants to be in but I’m here to help and I’m excited to join.”

Walsh made 16 appearances for the Shrimpers since signing in December 2020.

But he opted to move on after falling out of favour and failing to make the matchday squad for Blues’ last eight league games.

“I’ve not been playing at Southend the last six or seven games so it’s (the move) something that’s been talked about,” said Walsh.

“At the time I was focused on Southend and trying to get into the team but that didn’t come about so when I knew this was an option I was eager to get it done.”

Barnet are currently 19th in the National League standings.

But Walsh feels the Bees should be far higher.

“It's a club like Southend where with the size of the club it shouldn’t be in this league,” said Walsh.

“With all respect to this league, these are clubs that are worthy of being in League Two or League One.

“The size of the club is massive and from speaking to the manager I feel it’s right for me right now.”
