SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher has praised the long-serving John White following the defender’s departure on loan.
White will see out the season with Southern League Premier South side Wimborne Town.
But Maher feels White should always be ‘massively respected at Roots Hall.
“Something came up for John and it was something he liked the idea of,” said Maher.
“John has been an incredible servant and at the right time he will get what he deserves with his testimonial.
“Around the place he’s been brilliant.
“He’s a great example to younger players and he’s going out to play football.
“All credit to him that he wants to go and play too.
“He’s a brilliant servant for the club and someone who should be massively respected.”
White joined Blues in 2013 and has made 281 appearances for the club.
