SOUTHEND United striker Harry Cardwell is expected to return to full training today.

Cardwell has been out since the end of February with a hamstring problem suffered during the 1-1 draw at Eastleigh.

And Blues boss Kevin Maher is pleased to see the forward back in action.

“Fingers crossed Cards will be out on the grass today and that will be a big boost for us,” said Maher.

“He gives us a presence and leads the line ever so well.

“He takes a lot of the workload off other people too.

“There’s no pressure on him but I’m delighted he’s back out on the grass so let’s see where that takes him.”

Cardwell has scored twice in six games since joining Blues from Chorley back in January.

The 25-year-old has missed the last six matches for the Shrimpers.
