SOUTHEND United fans have their say on Saturday's 3-0 defeat to Notts County at Roots Hall.

Thought we set up wrongly, a crowded central midfield with not much spark. On top for the first 20 minutes then a sucker punch. Slow to react, game was crying out for Bridge and then he wasn't played in his best position when he came on. Poor penalty, shame some idiots booed Brunt.

@Kaylalula

Why, why, why is Demietriou, a proven penalty taker not taking the spot kicks, this isn't the first one that Dalby has missed.

@YeattsMatthew

Dalby played well as usual but how crazy to take a penalty in exactly the same way as their keeper would have studied. He’s not a good spot kick choice. Our crosses woeful as usual; floated in rather than with pace.

@BryanGOBsmacked

Thought we started really well in the first 15 minutes. The work rate and intensity were excellent but then we dropped off and changed the plan. Dalby looked lazy and had a really bad game and Dennis never really got involved. Lots of work to do before next season.

@DanDobisz

Another quality away side at Roots Hall. We were well beaten by Notts for the second time this season. Maher is now aware what a challenge it will be just getting in the play off positions next season. Some very disappointing performances from Blues players today.

@shrimpersaway

The difference between the two sides was the finishing. They had three shots on target and scored all three! Our shots on target were straight at the keeper. Plus Demetriou should take the pens when playing, not Dalby. They grew in confidence with the goals and were nothing special.

@tommyharris57

This match demonstrated just how far we have to go just to be competitive. Notts County are not a great side but they are miles better than us. Hobson and Dalby are just not at the races and yet get played every week. We need a complete rebuild in the summer.

@Ianjholmes

Seem to have lost a bit of confidence up top, thought we played some nice football at times but just lacked composure. Concentration slips in defence killed the game off.

@Badgersno1

We don’t look like we’re playing as a team that has nothing to lose, too much playing safe and a lacklustre amount of ideas.

@JB_Allen

Looked like a Brown team today right down to the late subs. Lobbing the ball aimlessly forward just doesn’t work.

@johnLphin

We gave them too much space, they were touch tight on us. We’ve stopped playing football and using the wings, instead reverted to hoofball and lumping it up to Dalby. Need to sharpen up.

@Luke_Nutley

Has to go back to what was working, a front three that caused defenders problems. Once again it’s shown against a well organised team that we can’t innovate. Dreadful marking for their first and caught on the counter again for the second. Seems the same every week.

@BayesRich

We've been found out and lacking a proper plan B. Same changes brought on for a few games now, becoming so predictable.

@DanBasildonBlue

After the last few performance, Dennis should be dropped in favour of our contracted players. Too many players are on the beach already. Why have the successful tactics been dropped? Was like watching a Phil Brown team slow and defensive, and we all know where that got us!

@tawkbiz

Need to fully utilise Dennis by going back to 3 up top. Fair play to Notts County, they looked a decent side.

@J0E0007

Ditch 3-5-2 it just doesn't work, Brown and Molesley style. 3-4-3 worked well for us, and the fallback should be 4-4-2. Both give more width and better football. We miss Cardwell and Lopata big time.

@cjblues2505

In my opinion we are safe so nothing to play for from the players on the pitch to the crowd everything was flat.

@Dbates198183Dan

Boring. I like the system but the players available aren't good enough to play it. Defensively we are so poor and Dalby needs a break.

@therealdaddsy

Today and the next few games will highlight where we are lacking, then it's up to Kev, Still and Stan to find what's required to give it a go next season. However, we can clearly see it's not going to be a walk in the park as some seem to believe.
