TOM Reeman says Southend Saxons are still in the race for a top four finish.

Saxons won 64-7 at Norwich on Saturday.

And Reeman is certain fifth placed Southend can still catch the teams above them, despite having just two league matches left to play.

“Top four is definitely the goal for us,” said Reeman.

“We have two very tough games left but we owe both Harpenden and Colchester a performance after drawing and losing respectively earlier in the season.”

Southend are currently eight points behind fourth placed Colchester but kept up the pressure on those above them with a good win at the weekend.

And Reeman was pleased with the performance as well as the result.

“Saturday we showed we can be ruthless when needed,” said Reeman.

“We were a little disappointed after the Habs game with our performance so a big away win at Norwich was exactly what we needed.”

Southend will now be aiming for another win on Saturday but are facing a tough looking test against third placed Harpenden at Warners Bridge.

“Harpenden are a well drilled young side and play quite similar to us,” said Reeman.

“They’ve got a few lads involved in Saracens turning out in the A league so naturally those blokes have a target on them.

“But we’ve shown a lot of character to dig deep this season and come out on top so I’ll be expecting the same on Saturday.”
