DYLAN Gavin was doubly delighted following Billericay Town’s Essex Senior Cup final win against Bowers & Pitsea tonight.

For not only did the on loan Charlton Athletic striker score the only goal of the game at Colchester United’s Community Stadium.

But it also handed the 19-year-old the first senior trophy of his career.

“It was really good and the boys put in a good shift for 90 minutes,” said the youngster.

“It’s my first senior trophy and it feels really good but it’s not just me it was the whole team who worked really hard.”

Gavin’s moment of magic came just past the half hour mark when he netted from long range.

And the forward went for goal after seeing Bowers goalkeeper Mitchell Beeney off his line.

“I saw the keeper was off his line so I decided to shoot and it was great to see it go in,” said Gavin.

“I had a few chances I should’ve done better with but we won the game and that’s the main thing.”

Gavin has now scored eight goals in 13 games since joining Billericay.

And he is thoroughly enjoying his spell at New Lodge.

“I’ve been loving it and it’s great to be getting experience of first team football,” said Gavin.

“Billericay has been great for me and it’s a good platform for me to show Charlton what I’m all about.

“I’m really grateful for the opportunity and I’m learning all the time too.

“It’s more physical and without being disrespectful to 23s football I don’t think it’s as strong as men’s football and coming here has been really good for me.”

But Gavin still has plenty of targets for the remainder of the season as Billericay bid to avoid relegation from National League South.

“There’s a few more games left and we want to push on and stay safe,” said Gavin.

“I’ll try my best to get the goals we need.”

But Gavin is not sure what will be happening when the season ends.

“I think I have six games left and then I’ll go back to Charlton,” said Gavin.

“I need to go back and see what happens
