BUDDING golfer Ryan Salisbury is setting his sights on the World Championships – at just six years of age.

The Benfleet based Ryan, who is a member of the Boyce Hill club, finished second in the British Junior Golf Tour event at Dale Hill.

And his father Dave felt Ryan’s game will be helped by such a strong showing in his first ever competition.

He said: ‘Ryino learnt a lot from his first event, gained in confidence and cannot wait for his next event.

“It’s going to be a qualifier for the World Six and Under Championship, where, if he qualifies, the final will be held in America.”

Elsewhere at Boyce Hill, the ladies bronze team were between at Burnham while the mens team lost at Harwich & Dovercourt.

The first board competition of the club’s centenary year, the Fine Cup, has also taken place and was won by Danny Boxell with a score of 66.

Ciara Rushmer also impressed, winning the Faldo Series event at Brockett Hall on the Palmerstone course.
