WESTCLIFF fought back to beat Rochford Hundred 20-17 in a keenly contested local derby this afternoon.
Westcliff opened the scoring in the National Two clash at the Gables with a penalty from Greg Bannister.
However, the visitors hit back with tries from Maciu Nagobi and Aston Bevans-Royston, the latter of which was converted by Chris Dudman, putting them 12-3 in front at half-time.
Westcliff replied after the break with a try from William Morrant but Rochford soon fought back with Redmond Newberry touching down at the other end of the pitch.
But a try from Bannister, which he converted himself, brought Westcliff back into the game before a try from Jack Hogarth two minutes from time secured a memorable victory for the hosts.
