SNOOKER: Stuart Bingham is into the quarter-finals of the World Championships after a 13-9 victory against Kyren Wilson.
The Basildon based Bingham resumed the last 16 clash at 8-8 yesterday morning before four frames in succession left him just one away from a place in the last eight.
Wilson cleared the colours to claim a tense 21st frame and keep his hopes alive.
But Wilson missed his chance in the next, enabling Bingham to set up a last-eight clash with either Judd Trump or Anthony McGill. And he is delighted to be through.
“I’m over the moon,” Bingham told the BBC.
“Every mistake Kyren made today, I punished him.
"To get to 12-8 up, it was more or less over and it was good to get over the line.
"Every match here is big.
"It could easily have got to 12-10 and it showed on my face at the end.”
Bingham memorably won the world title in 2015 and reached the semi-finals of last year’s competition.
But he remains a 14/1 outsider to triumph this time around and is happy to be considered an underdog.
“I’m fine with coming under the radar and just letting it happen,” he added.
