CAVAGHN Miley jumped at the chance to join Southend United.

The former Eastleigh midfielder has signed a two year deal with the Shrimpers.

And Miley is excited to be on board.

“I’m buzzing,” said the 27-year-old.

“To get an opportunity to play at a club like this is a big deal for me and I’m looking forward to it.”

Miley had been with Eastleigh since 2017 and is pleased to have completed his switch to Roots Hall so early on in the summer.

“I’m glad it’s been done quickly and as soon as I heard about the interest and had the conversations I wanted to get it done,” said Miley.

“I’m over the moon to be here.”

Miley will now be pushing for a place in the centre of the park and wants to help Blues build on their promising end to last season.

“You can see the change here since the new gaffer has come in,” said Miley.

“You can see how much they pushed on during the second half of the season.

“Hopefully that’s a part of what’s to come and we can push on, aim for the play-offs and promotion.”

Blues finished 13th in the table last term but Miley wants that to impove next term and is keen to make a big impression.

"You’ll see a load of energy and someone who wants the ball," said Miley.

"I want to play the ball through to players who can cause a lot of damage.

"I like to break up play and hopefully I can get a couple of my numbers up and have a successful year."
