SOUTHEND United new boy Cav Miley has been backed to make a big impression at Roots Hall.

The 27-year-old midfielder has signed a two year deal with the Shrimpers having previously been with Eastleigh since 2017.

And Spitfires supporter Gary Crawford believes Miley will prove to be a good signing for Blues.

“Cav settled into the National League very well, said Crawford.

“He was very composed in the middle of the field.

“Like all fans you want someone who gives 100 per cent and Cav does that.

“He really gives everything on the pitch.

“Cav loves to break up play and start attacks.”

But it was not just in midfield where Miley did well for Eastleigh.

“Due to the formation often played by managers at Eastleigh he was often asked to play in different roles, including left back,” said Crawford.

“But he always gives everything.

“He doesn’t score many goals but when he does they are either great strikes or they are very important for the team.”

Miley will now be looking to make a big impact at Blues where he seems likely to line up in central midfield.

And it was in that role Miley featured most for Eastleigh.

“His favoured position is in front of the back four and here he can break up play and start attacks,” said Crawford.

“He is composed on the ball and when needed he will break forward with the ball.

“He gives his all on the pitch and is a great tackler.

“He is so underrated and will do the dirty parts of football such as make crucial tackles, break up play and set attacks up with no fuss.

“He is the type of player that you realise more what he brings to the team when he is not there.”

And Crawford is therefore disappointed to see Miley move on.

“I am gutted like most fans that he has gone,” said the Eastleigh fan.

“We let a number of players go that made sense, but letting Cav go doesn’t seem to make sense.

“As a fan you just want someone who shows passion and gives 100 per cent and that’s Cav.

“I will continue to follow his career as he could easily play higher up the football pyramid.”
