Fresh start - former Southend United midfielder Lewis Gard looks set to sign for Tonbridge Angels
FORMER Southend United midfielder Lewis Gard is expected to sign for National League South side Tonbridge Angels.
Gard, who came through the youth ranks at Roots Hall, left the Shrimpers at the end of the season having made 17 first team appearances.
But, speaking shortly after his release from Roots Hall, Gard admitted he needed to start playing more regularly.
He said: "The main thing for me is to go somewhere and play as much as I can to prolong my career. That's what I definitely need to go and do now."
