EVANS Kouassi is back at Canvey Island.

Kousassi – who bagged 33 goals to help the Gulls win promotion from Isthmian North last season – announced in mid-May he would leaving Park Lane.

But Kouassi has now completed a u-turn and will still be with Canvey next season.

“I just love the club,” said Kouassi, explaining his return.

“I had the phone call from Brad (Wellmen).

"He asked me to come back and we made it happen.

“Originally I thought I wanted a fresh start and to try something different but I spoke to Brad and he convinced me to come back.

“I have a special bond with the supporters here and I love them.”

And Kouassi is now looking forward to build on the success of last season.

“Last season was the best I’ve ever had,” Kouassi told the club’s official website.

“It’s the best I’ve ever done and to have 2,000 fans here watching the final was something I’ve never experienced before.

“Next year I want to help the team maintain their spot in the Isthmian Prem.”
