RYAN Peniston’s quest for a quarter-final slot at Eastbourne will continue into a second day.

Peniston won the first set of his second round clash against Pedro Martinez on a tie-break before the Spaniard hit back to win the second set 6-3.

But, with Peniston leading 3-2 in the deciding set, play was suspended after Martinez complained the court was too slippery to continue.

The match will now resume on Thursday at 12 noon with the winner going on to play Jack Draper in the last eight later in the afternoon.

Draper beat Diego Schwartzman 6-5, 7-6 (3) and now hopes Peniston will be his next opponent as he is keen for more British players to do well.
