RYAN Peniston will take on Henri Laaksonen in the first round at Wimbledon.

The 26-year-old has been handed a wildcard for SW19 after an impressive summer.

And Peniston has been paired with the Swiss player who is currently ranked 95 in the world.

Peniston, a former Southend High School pupil, will head into Wimbledon on a high after reaching the quarter-finals at Eastbourne earlier this week.

Peniston, who is ranked 147 in the world, also reached the last eight at Queen’s last week.

The winner of the match between Peniston and Laaksonen will take on Steve Johnson or number 18 seed Grigor Dimitrov in the second round.

Peniston will also team up with fellow Brit Alastair Gray in the men's doubles and the duo will take on Joran Vliegen and Jackson Withrow in the first round.
