LORI and Eric Voges flew in from America to watch Ryan Peniston in action at Wimbledon.

The couple got to know Peniston during his stint at the University of Memphis where he became close friends with their son Turner.

And Lori was thrilled to be court-side for Peniston’s first round win at SW19.

“We were coming over to England anyway but when we found out Ryan was playing at Wimbledon we had to be here,” said Laurie.

“Ryan lived with our son Turner while at the University of Memphis and he’s a very nice lad.

“He would come to us for Thanksgiving and in the summer and he’s welcome back anytime.

“He always liked my cooking and I’d love to cook for him again.”

Peniston triumphed in straight sets against Switzerland’s Henri Laaksonen.

And Eric was initially concerned he would not be able to watch Peniston’s big match.

“We were here yesterday but obviously the match didn’t happen and we were worried we wouldn’t be able to get in again today but thankfully we did,” said Eric.

“Ryan’s dad Paul has stayed with us too so we know his family and since Ryan left Memphis and turned pro we’ve been following him every step of the way.

“He’s been unbelievable and has done really well.

“Unfortunately we have to go home on Thursday so we’re not sure if we will get to see any more of his matches here live.

“But we will always be tracking his matches wherever we are.”
