SOUTHEND United’s head coach Kevin Maher will continue to take a look at two trialist strikers.

Chris Wreh and Ibby Akanbi both scored for Blues against Canvey Island on Tuesday night.

And Maher will monitor both players in training for the rest of the week.

“They both did well tonight but it’s difficult for them,” said Maher.

“We will look at them over a period and they will be in for the rest of the week so we can see how they bed in.

“We’re looking in the forward areas and it’s an area we want to add to.”

Wreh, who is the son of former Arsenal striker Christopher, was with Banbury last season having previously played for Stratford Town, Barton Rovers, AFC Rushden & Diamonds, Aylesbury, Newport Pagnell Town and MK Gallacticos.

Akanbi, who replaced Wreh at half-time against Canvey, counts Whitehawk, Maidstone, Aldershot and Dagenham & Redbridge among his former clubs.
